Brief

Goetze Dental is an independent dental supplier, whose core business is face-to-face sales of supplies, equipment, repair services, financial services and education servicing clients in the Midwest. Goetze needed to launch a new online business ‘Internet Dental’, to speak to a new segment of
customers on the national level. The goal of the online business is to use a dynamic pricing model, depending on the volume of the order, to gain a customer’s core product repeat/reorder business. They also needed the E-Commerce site to integrate with their existing product database and back-office ordering system.

Deliverables

Because of the specialized need for dynamic pricing that updated in real time in the catalog view, a customized e-commerce solution was necessary. The decision was made to build the site with ColdFusion for its’ power, speed and ease of connection to Microsoft SQL. The application was developed to leverage the clients existing database architecture with queries and stored procedures connecting the web site server to the back office enterprise server. Custom categories and indexed searches were created to quickly navigate through the company’s 100K+ product offerings. A custom login system was created for the specific needs of their existing customer database and new customers who would come in on the national level.
